Every year during Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 to December 7 you can change your Medicare Advantage Plan. It’s like musical chairs, whichever plan you are enrolled in on December 7 is the plan that is effective on January 1. However, the Open Enrollment Period starts on January 1 and goes on until March 31. Open Enrollment Period gives Medicare Advantage members one time opportunity to change from a Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan regardless of carrier. The purpose is due to last minute changes of providers and drug formularies that happens after the December 7th cut off.
